💪 What’s Happening?
We’ve teamed up with Elevate Together to support Debra, who has lovingly run Gale Street Community Garden for years. This vital community space is ready for a refresh — and we need your help to get started!
🧤 What We’ll Do
Weed 4 simple planting beds
Dig 5 short pathways between beds to turn and refresh the soil
No gardening experience needed! All tools and guidance will be provided on the day.
🕕 Timings
6:15 – 6:30 – Meet outside Becontree Underground Station ready to start at 6.15 for a gentle 1-mile jog at around Parsloes Park Lake. We're a friendly and inclusive group and we never leave anyone behind :)
6.30 – 6.40 - intro & safety briefing.
6:40 – 7:10 – Task time!
7:10 – 7:15 – Wrap-up and high fives
7:15 – Finish

🌞 Why It Matters
This is just the first step in a summer-long transformation. With your help, the garden will soon be ready to host wellness sessions (mindfulness, yoga), planting and veg growing, outdoor cooking, kids’ activities, and more! We’ll be returning over the summer to help prune fruit trees, paint the large shed, renovate the kitchen and move the old shed.
👋 Who You’ll Meet
- Debra, the heart of the garden and longtime community lead
- Nassaba, from Elevate Together, who’ll guide us through the task and provide safety tips
- Steven, the Area Activator for Good Gym Barking & Dagenham
Come along for a relaxed and friendly evening of volunteering – no experience needed, just bring your energy and community spirit!
I hope to see you there!!

New to GoodGym?
This is a GoodGym group run, where we run to help a local community organisation and then run back.
New GoodGymers are welcome to GoodGym group runs - no one gets left behind. You're unlikely to be alone, hundreds of new people sign up every week.

Facing the Co-op, walk down the alleyway directly to the right of the shop. Arrive at the gate with a green sign that says “Ebaha Allotment Site”. Turn left and walk along the alleyway that runs along the back of the shops. After a few yards, look on the right hand side for another gate with a small red sign on the right hand gate that says “No Parking, Access Required, Thank You”
