Tonight 13 runners ran 6km to St Augustines' Church, to assist with their outdoor space and pick up where we left off last year.

For those of us who visited last year we were able to notice the difference straight away, the grass was growing wonderfully at the side of the church, they had used the compost to level out the uneven surface and planted flowers including used the flints we had separated from the rubble to from make seats in the church yard.

Sue gave us a run down of what she would like us to do tackle, instructions received the group headed of in various directions, some to the compost heap where they were removing brambles and filling up bags/buckets with compost. For those working in the compost heap there was a little hidden surprise, STEVE! Someone had spotted something moving and we all gathered around to see what it was, at first it was a worm then we realised it had a face so we thought it was a snake. No one wanted to touch it as we were unsure what it was, Sue came over and had a look and told us it was a slow worm and just picked it up and took it to the back of the compost heap where it wriggle away in search of a new home.

Whats the difference between a worm and a snake?

Some of the group helped to move concrete slabs from one area to another, while others where going through more rubble in search of flints which Sue informed us would be used to make more seats in other sections of the ground. Time had ticked away and it was time to down our various tools and bid Sue goodbye. Just as we took our final group photo and was about to head off there was more wiggly movement on the ground, all eyes immediately switched to the movement to see if it was another slow worm but this time it was just a normal garden worm, not wanting him to feel left out we named him Dave and set off back to solutions for our fitness session.
