13 people ran 6k to complete a litter pick for the Canal and River Trust
Tonight was litter picking night for GG Brum. The benefactors of our good deed being the Canal and River Trust. We set off with our ‘snake catching equipment’ in hand, aka the litter pickers, we haven’t seen any snakes down the canal yet! Once on the canal the group was split into three groups of four. Each group clearing a different part of our adopted part of the towpath. Once done and we had a fair few bags full, as you can see from the pictures, we had a quick picture before heading back.
Tonight was certainly not a night for standing about, so we did a little bit extra running along the canal before turning around and heading back on ourselves. We ran back to St Paul’s square where it would be Bootcamp time. Normally when we do the canal litter pick we have a go at the 1 mile time trial, but unfortunately the area the group ‘burns up’ was being used for an ice rink, so a little slippery to run on!
The Bootcamp started with reverse dips, then some core work. Leah showing a strong mid-section. Then it was squat jumps , Richard did well to keep those jumps nice and low and Annie certainly put a good shift in. Next it was high knees, Tom and Garry went like the clappers and John certainly got the heart racing. We even had a nice chap who was interested what we were doing, joining in for the last couple of sets, so hopefully he might join us for the whole run next week! If that wasn’t enough straight after the last high knees effort, the group had to sprint one lap around the building and then when they thought ‘that was it’ they had to do another lap! On the plus side we only had a short journey back to 1000 Trades once done
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.
