For this session we will be lending a hand to Sara & her team of volunteers removing thistles, strimming & raking the meadow to prepare for sowing wildflower seeds.
This work will help create a beautiful wildflower meadow, providing vital habitat and food for bees, butterflies and other pollinators while improving local biodiversity.
What to bring Sturdy footwear (the ground may be uneven or muddy) Long sleeves and trousers recommended Gardening gloves if you have them (some spares may be available) A drink to keep hydrated
Come along, enjoy some fresh air, meet fellow GoodGymers, and help transform this area into a haven for wildlife. Every pair of hands will make a difference!
Let's pull together to help nature bloom! 🌸🐝
NB: This is on an allotment and there are no toilet facilities Free parking is available at the entrance gates to the allotments. Sara, the event organiser has promised some vegan snacks and some water, and maybe some pizza.

This project is for Bee Friendly Warwick (you've helped us in the past; it's been great!) to create a wildlife meadow on an old allotment we started renting this year. The allotment is not near a power source, or anything really; it's a lovely spot! We need help strimming (we have two battery strimmers), hand-raking what we've strimmed, and bashing an awful lot of Himalayan Balsam. Once the area is strimmed, we should be able to bring in petrol scarifiers to level the soil and sow wildlife seed. There may well be a stage 2 for the project - to sow seed. The site floods A LOT. So it is tricky to do anything between November and February. We'd like to get it strimmed by mid-September. Ready for the next stage. Your help would be very much appreciated.
