About this session

Goodgym Cross Country is back! We will be returning to the Met League in 2023 and 2024!

If you have never tried cross country, it is amazing muddy fun. A definite challenge, but accessible to all who want to give it a go, and are part of a UKA affiliated team (like the Goodgym Race Team).

To coincide with the events, Area Activator Simon Fitzmaurice (who is a UK Athletics Coach in Running Fitness or CiRF for short) will be hosting a series of hill interval training sessions at Primrose Hill over the Autumn and Winter months.

Meet at:

The Queens, 49 Regent's Park Rd, London NW1 8XD

And we will run to Primrose Hill together to start our session.


Kenyan Hills

The workout will be "Kenyan Hills"- an established hill loop that utilises uphills and downhills. We will arrange a timed interval duration and allocated rest and recovery repeats on the evening.

Timed intervals are accessible for all! Duration or pace is not the defining objective for these workouts- only endurance!

Our warm up, session and cool down will be no more than 60 minutes in total duration.


What do I need?

  • Trail shoes or hardy road shoes are recommended. We plan to run on grass where possible.

  • Maybe a head torch in the Winter months. There will be street lights, but these won't illuminate the whole course.

  • Something warm or possibly waterproof for afterwards. AA Simon will be holding the stopwatch and can be a bag drop. So bring layers (but take care of valuables if possible).

Good evening all. I'm afraid I have double booked myself for next Friday's hill training session. However I would certainly be open to organising similar training events in the near future (particularly as the evenings get lighter). Your suggestions and feedback would be really helpful!
