Getting there

For this session we're going to meet at the task, so you'll need to make your own way there. We encourage you to walk, run, or cycle to do so!

    About this session

Over six Rejuvenation Days earlier in the year, York BID worked with nearly 100 volunteers to clean and re-paint around 450 pieces of street furniture. Due to the fantastic feedback to the project, there are three more Rejuvenation Days, on 10th, 12th, and 18th September. We’ll be working in Lendal, Museum Street, George Hudson Street, Dame Judi Dench Walk and the surrounding areas* to paint up bike racks, benches, bollards, and other street furniture - everything will be taped up beforehand, so no artistic skills are necessary! We will provide all the materials and relevant protective clothing but ask that volunteers wear clothing they don’t mind risking getting a bit of paint on.

To make this work, we are reliant on volunteers from partners and businesses across the city – huge thank you to all of you that have previously volunteered with us!

*On all days the meeting point will be in front of York Explore Library on Museum Street at 09:00, just look for the BID cleaning van.

The project will be running all day from 9-3pm but we will meet at 9am for a safety briefing and aim to stay for 1-1.5 hours.

Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.

This is a GoodGym community mission. When we're doing a community mission we make our own way to the task, so you can choose to walk, run, or cycle. Thinking of cycling - check out our FAQs

This session is organised by your Taskforce, a group of experienced GoodGym members in your area. They are not responsible for your safety. You should feel confident to participate in the session as it is described and you do so at your own risk.
