For this session we're going to meet at the task, so you'll need to make your own way there. We encourage you to walk, run, or cycle to do so!
Clifton Down Growing Space has asked for some GoodGym help to assemble boxes from pallet collars, fix box liners and fill boxes with bark chipping and compost.
Helpers will need to lift buckets filled with compost into the planter. We ask all helpers not to overload buckets or lift weights which are too heavy for them and to take plenty of rest breaks.
All tools and equipment will be provided but please bring gloves (some spares will be available) and if necessary waterproofs if it’s raining.
The task is listed to run for 2 hours but please feel free to join later or finish early - just spare whatever time you have available.
The site is based directly behind Clifton Down Shopping Centre at the bottom of Alma Vale Road and a link to the address is here: https://www.google.com/maps/place/51%C2%B027'49.4%22N+2%C2%B036'40.6%22W/@51.463714,-2.611278,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m4!3m3!8m2!3d51.463714!4d-2.611278?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDExMy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D
The project has utilized a disused car park into a Growing Space for local people to grow their own food. In 2025 we built 40 raised bed planter boxes and we have 25 members in addition to a volunteer team. We have additional funding and so in 2026 we plan to build 100 more boxes and are looking for more members and help to build and fill the planters. The site is on Alma Vale road behind Clifton Down Shopping Centre and is publicly accessible. Please see link to #cliftondowngrowingspace www.cliftondowngrowingspace
