Saturday morning at the allotments on a dry but slightly muggy day. Stephen welcomed us and set us to work weeding the bark paths that ran around and between a section of raised beds. It wasn't heavy lifting but required precision and we spent the next hour and a half on knees and crouching gently releasing the weeds, the job was made easier by the fact that under most of the bark was weed resistant membrane. This was my first task since having covid and my enjoyment at returning to Goodgym was such that I spend the first half hour chatting non-stop. Richard and Dave may have been relieved that soon concentration on the task meant that I fell silent. We made lots of little and not so little piles of weeds, while Stephen whizzed around with wheelbarrows collecting these for the compost heap. 90 minutes flew by and when we finished it was great to see how much progress we had made. As always there are lots of jobs on an allotment and I'm sure we'll be back again soon. Before I sat down to write this report I received a lovely text from Corinna thanking us and saying how much the charity appreciates Goodgym's help.
