- # Six Super runners ran 4km to help the ELSH - Educational Learning Support Hub move some furniture

For our first run in June a group of six headed out into the amazing summer evening to help Florentine at the ELSH move tables and drawers into their cellar.

Upon arrival at the school, Tyler and his dad showed us upstairs and explained what needed moving. The room is to eventually function as a English Language classroom and it had lots of extra tables and drawers in it than they needed.

The group got to work moving the heavy wooden table tops and drawers, working in pairs to manouvre them down the super narrow and very steep staircase! We got a system going with the two staircases in the building, using one for going down and the other for coming back up.

Mairead, after showing us her drawers, got busy running up and down the stairs so fast no one could catch her! Zoe and Beckie worked together moving larger objects, whilst Steve moved tables from one room to the next, ready to be taken down stairs.

PIVOT!! - Mairead

Tyler was a trooper, helping Steve with the moving and carrying some bits downstairs too! Whilst Sharon was up and down those stairs like yo-yo! It's fair to say that everyone got their stairs in - checks Garmin

Towards the end we worked as a group to move some of the larger much heavier items down -

Let me get under it - Steve

Within 30 minutes we had all of the furniture downstairs, with everyone feeling sweaty and out of breathe. The stairs gave everyone a good cardio workout with the lifting a great upper-body strength builder! The team were happy that the run back was mainly down hill and were keen to get a quick fitness session in to top off the night!

As we were a tired bunch, Grace let everyone choose one exercise to do in the fitness session, to be performed for 30 seconds each. We had:

  • Beckie's: PLANK
  • Kim's: JUMPING SQUATS
  • Mairead's: PUSH UPS
  • Steve's: CURTSY LUNGES
  • and Grace's: DIPS and HIGH KNEES

Everyone put in lots of effort and with tired legs and smiley faces we said our goodbyes!
