Early on Saturday morning, I ran down to Tooting to help some other volunteers start setting up for the annual Tooting Community Fun Day! This was the first year the Fun Day could go ahead again since Covid.

The main bulk of the task involved taking all the tables out of storage and assemble them along the street. I also helped set up the chairs and hang up the bunting - more challenging than expected in the wind 😅

The Fun Day is a great project which brings the Tooting community together - I hope the weather holds up for them!

Tooting Community Fun Day
A great event that brings together people of all faiths, races and cultures for a day of fun and enjoyment

The project unites the whole community in a day of enjoyment and celebration. It features rides, stalls, sports, crafts, entertainers and multicultural food. It encourages friendship and trust among diverse groups. It attracts large crowds, about 1500. It is coordinated by the Balham and Tooting Community Association (BATCA), in partnership with local Muslim schools and a black majority church. Local leaders, including the MP and Mayor of Wandsworth attend and give active support. Funds raised go to St George's Hospital.
