Sol, Georgeta and Sheila joined taskowner Sue at the Community Allotment. Not surprisingly lots of watering was required, which Georgeta and Sheila took on, whilst setting the hose to fill up the water butts. Meanwhile Sol took on the heroic task of emptying the bags of horse manure into the manure bay. The hot weather meant they were extremely stinky! Sol and Sue then planted some tomatoes in soil and some more-mature manure, and followed up with planting some spare raspberry canes. A good evening's work!

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
