Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Allison Randell
2 Goodgym runners 'egg-citingly' arrived at Borough Food Cooperative HQ for various tasks helping them get ready for the following days opening. We completed a couple of shopping lists for shielding customers, then with food hub coordinator Adam, we took a trolley over to Borough Market to collect some more donated veg from one of the stall holders - Teds Veg. After loading up our trolley full we 'egg-pertly' wheeled it back and sorted it all out. GoodGym member Fleur spent a while making yoghurt pots, whilst I sorted through the wild garlic - then we spent a fun time egg bobbing - testing over. a hundred eggs in pots of water to see if they were still fresh... "If you're not sure you ought-ter, then place it in water. If it lies on its side, then it’s fresh; eat with pride!"
The Borough Food Cooperative opened in October 2020. With help from organisations like FareShare, the Borough Food Cooperative acts as a subsidized supermarket, offering members to stop in and pick up £15-£20 worth of groceries for £4.50. The Cooperative is open during lockdown to provide essential supplies to local households
