Last night was the first of, hopefully, many tasks helping out Cheryl and Anne with their project to improve people's health through gardening and growing their own food.

We can't wait to be a part of it and help people in our community become healthier and happier.

Last night's task was to clear some angry bramble from a section of the park where Anne and Cheryl have worked extremely hard to install 30 raised flower beds.

There were "only" three of us last night so we were determined to make up for lack of numbers with extra effort...and we succeeded!

We welcomed Tamara along to her first GoodGym experience who had to wait a year to get involved.

An avid outdoor lover and keen ultra runner, Tamara is going to be a great addition to the group!

We loppers and shears Marianne and Tamara chopped away at a large section of bramble, some pieces as thick as our thumbs!

We had 50 minutes to make as much impact as possible and by the end we had managed to fill a whole bag and a half of bramble. We also did a litter pick at the same time. Clearing out old fencing, car battery and glass bottles....but didn't come across any hedgehogs!

With time up Anne arrived in wonderment and was so grateful for what we had managed to clear and was impressed with how much progress we made in such little time.

There's much more to do and she's booked us in for the 23rd for another session.

With all tidied up we ran back through the wooded park, trying to remember the way we came in.

We're back again next Wednesday so make sure you keep your midweeks free!!

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I had a really good time with you both on the run and while rumbling in the bramble :) I'm looking forward to joining you regularly on the runs & tasks and to meeting more like-minded and kind people like you!
