This evening was our first group run since the death of the Queen, so we started with a minute of silent reflection to honour her incredible life of service. It felt good to acknowledge this moment in history together and I've never heard a group of GoodGymers be so quiet!

Obviously they soon made up for it by heckling me during my briefing, but it was all good natured and no doubt deserved.

This evening's start location was just 600 metres from the task location at York Stream, allowing us to get there nice and early and make the most of the light. Our job was to weed the formal beds along the stretch between the library and York Road. Thanks to Gillian and Sol for helping the less green fingered among us identify the weeds and well done to Steve, who worked hard despite this being his second GoodGym session of the day. We should also celebrate the fact that no one went swimming - well done team!

As the amount of chatting started to outweigh the amount of weeding being done, I decided it was time for some fitness. We ran or walked three laps(ish) of a loop around the area where we had been working, with little pauses for exercises like squats and lunges when runners and walkers met each other. Then we moved onto a group work-out, which everyone contributed to. Thanks Sara for bringing the burpees!

Then it was time to head back to our start location for stretches and goodbyes. We learnt that a few of the group will be heading off on holidays over the next couple of weeks - hope you have fun and don't forget to show the world (the Swiss, Colombians, Ecuadorians and Sotonians specifically) your favourite red t-shirt.

Brilliant title and report Amy! It was a great evening out with laughter, chats and fun fitness. Sorry about the heckling (it was certainly not deserved but in good humour!) - next time we will behave ourselves. And thank you for the minute of silence for the Queen. See you in a couple of weeks xx
