Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by James Smith
After a lovely bit of uphill running to get to Locke Park, we were met by Anne and her team, which this week included 3 other regulars and a young fella on semi-voluntary community service!
This month our task was to sweep all of the fallen leaves from the trees and bushes out of the beds below them in the flowerbed fountain valley area of the park. We used brushes to sweep the leaves out of the beds and into piles on the grass. The leaves were then picked up by Anne's patented method of using two thin planks of wood to scoop them up before depositing them into a rubble sack... along with some other bits of plastic rubbish, a very dog-chewed large plastic lorry to name but one curiosity.

As a team we filled an amazing 6 rubble bags to the brim! These would be picked up tomorrow by the parks team. Anne then showed us what she had been up to in that area of the park recently; mostly edging of the paths where grass had been encroaching onto the hardcore. And we were treated to a brief tree identification lesson too, thanks!
Equipment was then taken back to the shed to be put away, goodbyes were said, and we headed off back down the hill. At the end of the run all of the usual suspects of stretches were carried out, head, shoulders, knees and toes. Knees and toes!?
