What a lovely evening to run up a huge hill twice it was! So that is what we did!

Joined by Kim & James from GG Sheffield and Clair from GG Barnsley, the four of us headed off in the direction of Worsbrough. Our mission tonight was to run the 3km uphill to Lew Whitehead Community Centre in Worsborough to help the volunteers there to remove a huge piece of graffiti on the front wall. The run there was pleasant, with everyone taking their time, sticking together and managing a bit of general chit chat. The view from the top of the hill really made the climb worth it so we stop for a second to take it in and grab a quick photo!

On arrival we were met by volunteer Ian and joined by Mairead who made it up that hill with help from 55-110kW's of horse power ;-) It was obvious what we had to do, no thanks to the 'artist' who plastered our reason for being there right across the front wall of the building! Armed with rubber gloves, scrubbing brushes, hot water, paint stripper and fairy liquid the group picked a spot each and began scrubbing away at the paint.

It soon became apparent that it was much harder than it looked and that certain colours of the paint just wouldnt budge! Kim's section of paint and paint stripper started turning into a thick, white, creamy substance that stuck like glue to the wall, making it more difficult to remove what was underneath!

Chat turned on to how old we all were, brought on by singing the 1999 song 'No Scrubs' by TLC, which sadly we can all remember! Clair commented on something from her era to which she believed Mairead wouldn't remember, to which Mairead asked:

Did many of your friends survive the Plague Clair?

To which Kim followed with:

But the one's that did were wiped out by the great fire right?

You definitely had to be there, but it had us all laughing!

After an hour of continuous scrubbing, we had made a huge difference to the wall, but sadly didn't get it all off. It was a super effort from everyone though, completing a tiresome upper body workout which I'm sure everyone is feeling today! Ian was very grateful for our help!

On the way back, as the sun was about the set, we headed home through the beautiful Locke Park, enjoying the long stretch of down hill back to where we started. It was a tougher, longer run than usual plus the strenuous task, great effort as always from everyone!

Next week we have a nice run to Emmanuel Methodist Church on Huddersfield Road to help them with some sorting!
