Mrs J & her husband have a nice garden and she was a keen gardener - though it's a bit harder to get out there now. The bush looked good before I started but all the underneath was dead so she wanted them cut right back so they can regrow more healthy, which hopefully they will! Pulled up some old dead asparagus plants too and could already see the new ones coming up :)
