It was a beautiful golden Tuesday evening, and we couldn't have asked for a better time to make our long overdue return to one one of GG Hackney's favourite tasks! The lockdown period combined with the antics of a family of foxes has seen our beloved Hackney Wick Community garden get a little rough around the edges. Time to show it some love!

Super taskforce leader Amanda arrived at 6.30 ON TIME, co-task leader Dan rocked up casually at quarter to the hour by which time the dynamo that is Kirsty was busy dishing out tasks to the community mission crew.

First up was log lifting and shifting to help edge the sprawling monster 👹 squash plantation. Wary of the potential fox nest lurking below the task force chums carefully and socially distantly moved all the heavy wooden stumps and also got rid of a load of old gubbins to the bins.

Not wanting anyone left twiddling thumbs, Kirsty dispatched a crew for the Jack and Jill task of fetching pails of water to fill the water butts before the piece-de-resistance crescendo that was watering all the plants! As a hearty and healthy reward there was Swiss chard aplenty to be shared out along with sage, rosemary and marjoram. There was even an amusing team photo where Helena tossed a bouquet of herbs to her bridesmaids and groomsmen?! A lovely night by the river was had by all!

Shout out to GoodGym first-timer Esther - welcome to GoodGym and to the neighbourhood! Also shout out to Dan for the run report and Helena for the lovely pics!
