Today we killed a pick axe....and broke a spade. But on the positive side we also cleared a section of the Riverside Way that had been buried in soil and rubble for the last few years.

It was a tough job, shifting tons of rocks and earth but as ever GoodGym were up for the challenge. Today's crew comprising Tom, Thom Wood, Louise Galvin, Zena Whalley, Sally Ann-Maish and myself spent a very productive two hours shoveling soil and removing rubble (whilst also enjoying the spring sunshine) to reveal the route of the long lost Riverside Way.

Thanks to our efforts Riverside ramblers no longer need to negotiate the tricky tree routes on the water's edge but can instead safely pass along the newly cleared path.

That's not to say the task is entirely finished, there is still more digging to be done as the route requires widening but we'll save that for another time. But in the meantime today's crew can certainly take credit for a good job well done.
