Kanika, Rachel, Lisa, Jessy and Sheila met at the community allotment on a beautiful warm evening. It was great to meet Jessy for her very first task. Welcome! We gave the allotment a good watering - it has grown so much in the past week! Meanwhile, others rescued the potato bed which had been covered in sand and debris from the path-laying activities. We then weeded the raised beds and noticed lots of ants running around, but they don't seem to be a problem. We also met with Vic from Men in Sheds who may be interested in using us to marshal at an upcoming music event. Watch this space!

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
