Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by James Smith
This evening's run was to assist the Friends of Locke Park. Anne and some other members of her gang were on their hols so we were left to our own devices this time. The task for the evening: litterpicking the bush islands and perimeter walls of the park filling our purple bags.
If you go down to the woods today you're in for a big surprise...
...30 cans of Strongbow were left behind from the teddy bears picnic (found inside one of the bush islands). They were spread all around, even in the trees, so it was a good dexterous workout. They were then crushed by mighty GG feet and bagged up. It was a dash and grab inbetween each of the treasure troves of trash, otherwise known as bushes.
When the bags were full, it was time to wrap-per it up... until our next litter litterpicking task when we can play as bin soldiers again.
Raising the bar
As ever when GG visits Locke Park we do some fitness there afterwards. This time there was an exercise-bars circuit on the agenda. There are 5 pieces of pole-based equipment (Kirsty would've loved it). 10 reps on each piece were done, and 2 circuits. The exercises were: - Tricep dips on parallel bars - Pull-ups on a low bar with palms facing towards and legs outstretched on the ground - Pull-ups on a higher bar with palms facing away and heels on the ground -Alternate arm twists -Climbing up and over a wide ladder with accentuated movements
During the exercises above, a dog and their owners came to investigate what was going on, saw the bags of rubbish, and were even more impressed with GG's efforts than they thought at first sight.
With task and fitness frolics completed, all that was left to do was run back and stretch. On the way out of the park to put the purple bag beside a street bin, GG had another lovely set of compliments thrust upon us from a local resident. Super!
