If you are wondering Gryme's Dyke is part of the Iron Age territorial oppidum in the Romano-British town of Camulodunum a.k.a Colchester.

We met at the very modern day Gym YourZone45 to pick litter. Even in the 200 metres between the gym and the Dyke our bags were half full. We entered the wonderful wooded giant ditch and made our way down a section towards Stanway Green. We found rusty cans of drink, dog poo in bags, plastic galore, crisp packets and much more.

On our circular route we stopped by Yarra Farm on Stanway Green to do some core strength work with planks, sit ups, press ups and tricep dips followed by a double dose of stretching with Bryanne cooling us down.

A poem for Goodgym Colchester It’s mid-august in the new world, If that is the best way to describe it, Wednesday evening and a small group, Come together to do good and get fit.

For 5 years we started at leisure world, Helping those within a few miles, In sun, rain, moon, and wind we stay committed, No matter what we have a lot of smiles.

We are not runners, or walkers or cyclists, We might do a bit for sure, But we do not need any labels, To help the community some more.

So, look around at what, who, and why? Your rapidly growing town needs you... Perhaps you sit and wonder how you can help, There is an easy answer: Give Goodgym Colchester a try.

Litter blights our streets, parks and beaches and costs us millions of pounds to clear up every year. Keep Britain Tidy is here to inspire people to eliminate litter now and for future generations. This is about more than simply getting people to pick up litter. We aim to change behaviour permanently by spotlighting the problem daily and offering creative solutions. We work with people, businesses, local authorities and government to educate, innovate and inspire - improving the environment on everyone’s doorstep.
