Different Worlds: LSE Summer School x GoodGym #5

Westminster Report written by Denzel Kessie

It's amazing to see the size of these sessions grow. We had a whooping 20 runners, that's our biggest group this year.

As usual, we all meet outside of The World Turned Upside Down globe and powered through the busy streets till we reached Green Park. We had a mix of runners, first timers, casual runners, consistent racers and even marathon runners. Once we reached Buckingham Palace, I got the team to stand in front of the gates for a nice group photo which they all wanted me to airdrop later (I did).

From there we ran down The Mall, the iconic running spot where the finish line is for the London Marathon. Many were starstruck as we ran down. Some were desperate to run London Marathon eventually whilst others were considering marathons more local to them like Rome.

Once we reached Westminster, it was smooth sailing from there. Because of the space, I used that as a opportunity to drop to the back to check on the beginners before speeding back to the front. I done this a couple time as I wanted to make sure everyone finished.

When we reached the hill in Strand, I had everyone wait at the top as I knew this would be tough for some of the runners, but everyone powered through and made it up the hill with no problem. From there we made our way back to LSE, then I took the team through some cool down stretches before we parted ways. Another successful run.
