We were out pounding the streets again this weekend in support of Cambridge City Foodbank, delivering letters to raise awareness of their work.
Meeting to run to the task, Catherine welcomed Dani, who joined (definitely not defected) all the way from Luton, and Debbie who came for her first GoodGym session. Delighted to have you both join us ๐
Taking a scenic route along the river and through the graveyard (only the best for new GoodGymers), we met Daiana, Scott, Michele, and Beth on Mill Road. An altogether jolly group of posties ๐จ
In pairs, each taking a main road, we split off to get delivering. Although the main focus was posting, there was time to admire some beautiful flowers (particularly the wisteria and roses) and stained glass, providing lots of inspiration. In just 30 minutes we'd delivered 250 letters. Swift work, and not at all motivated by the thought of coffee and pastries...
We reconvened and relocated to Mill Mediterranean Coffee Spot and enjoyed mammoth drinks and a variety of sweet treats while we chatted about the joys of storage units, garden centres, and bowling. Rumour has it that someone once got married in a bowling alley but we're unclear if they actually walked down the lane ๐ณ
Summoning pastry-based energy, Debbie and I ran back to our meet point through Midsummer common, enjoying the trees and activity on the river.
A social was the perfect opportunity to mark good deed milestones for Scott and Michele who are both celebrating reaching 10 Good Deeds ๐ Absolutely brilliant and a solid commitment to making a difference in our community ๐ซถ
Today was fun. As well as good deeds, we had good movement, good laughs and good pastries - all the best bits of GoodGym ๐

For today's session we combined fitness, business and pleasure with our leaflet delivery and monthly social!
Catherine, Beth and Caroline met first and caught up during for a gentle 4km run (made to a round number!), jogging across town to meet Michele ๐โโ๏ธ
The foursome then set off with leaflets promoting Arthur Rank Hospice's 'Star Shine Night Walk', pinning on supermarket notice boards and dropping off in pubs around town ๐ฆ
We made sure to end at the fantastic Free Press pub for our March monthly social, where we bought an array of crisps as an extra treat to accompany our drinks. The jalapeรฑo & dill divided the crowd, but we all kept going back for more! ๐ป
A HUGE shout-out to Michele on her 10th good deed with Goodgym - congratulations! Here's to the next 10 ๐ ๐

For our latest litter pick, Caroline, Harriet, Ilse and Michele met to tidy the area near the Coldhams Sainsbury's.
With Caroline arriving fashionably late (not my fault!) and making the most of her pannier space to transport the gear across town, the others got a headstart on catching up. We kitted up in our hi-vis, took our traditional group selfie and got to work scouring for litter. Alongside a glass bottle that we recycled, our most unexpected find was a flatscreen TV! We tried our best with the pickers but will have to leave that one to the council ๐
Excitingly, we were approached by someone pleased to see us and keen to litter-pick, so we may even have a new GoodGym recruit! ๐ค

Our last push for the Cambridge City Foodbank winter appeal, delivering the final batch of letter packs across Cambridge.
Learning my lesson from last time (that it is quite hard to run for miles with 10kg of leaflet packs on your back) we had less of a group run and more of a group cycle with Caroline cycling furiously across town to meet me in Newnham and finish the leaflet delivery we started last month. Michele delivered a large batch of packs to houses in the centre of Cambridge, and all in, we distributed another 500 packs.
Earlier on in the day, Nick (top UK recycler) had been at it again with the litter picking, keeping the streets of Cambridge clean โป๏ธ
Litter picked and leaflet packs delivered, we headed for a "quiet" drink. With the music pumping, there was a tactical switching of bars before any moves came out. As always, in the company of GoodGymers and with some much needed laugher, the social was a fantastic way to end the month!

Alongside our weekly community missions, GoodGymers in Cambridge have been out doing good across the city, helping the local community and pushing us closer to our January Challenge target!
Nick cleared litter from some of the worst hit areas. Not only did he clear it, he sorted the recyclables to ensure they were disposed of responsibly and reported fly-tipping to the council.
Michele did an extra leaflet drop for Cambridge City Foodbank covering another two streets on a daily walk.
Catherine took a plastic tub to a Greene King pub in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Great work team ๐
