Myself, Lucy, Aimee and Emma had a lovely morning helping out at Saltwell junior parkrun, as part of the NHS 75th celebrations.
Aimee and Emma were barcode scanning, Lucy was tailwalker and I was funnel manager.
It was just a really nice morning, very relaxed and brilliant to see so many people in the park. We had over 100 juniors finishing which was fantastic.
Congratulations to Aimee for her 25th time volunteering at parkrun!
Join us tomorrow evening for a leaflet drop in Heaton and next Sunday, helping out at North Marine junior parkrun in South Shields!

This evening Emma and I met in Westgate to spread the word about the weekly, free three-course meals provided by the brilliant charity FoodCycle. Everyone is welcome to free hot meals with FoodCycle which has locations in Walker, Felling, Byker, Westgate, and Benwell, and we were helping to raise awareness of this amazing work with tonight's leaflet drop.
Big kudos has to go to Emma who cycled up the hill from Gateshead to Westgate, truly putting the gym into GoodGym! It was undoubtedly a job well done as we were able to distribute every leaflet we had been given in just under an hour during a lovely evening in the sun! FoodCycle are just one of a number of wonderful charities that we help in Newcastle and we'd love you to come and join us for the next one!

Emma Tomlinson earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Emma completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Emma was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

It was another nice sunny sunday, Aimee , Emma and I went down to hodgkin park to continue the mammoth task of painting the park gates. This particular gate is called Oasis (after we finished painting it, it became apparent why!)
We applied a coat of 'fancy flirt' to the top parts of the gate, then went over the letters with surgical precision to make them more legible. Then we had to go in with some black paint to fix all of our previous mistakes!!
It was a really therapeutic task and local residents have let Urban green know how much they appreciate the paintwork.
The difference we made from our first session(in May) to this last one, is absolutely amazing. We are back at Hodgkin park in 3 weeks to do some pruning and general park maintenance.
