Valentine's Day and what better way to spend the evening than running to GrowBaby to share the love. Jade, Rachel, Dave, Catherine and Claire met at the Quaker Centre for a warm up in the car park. We ran 2.5km round Fairfield and through the back streets to the Hub where Growbaby has their sessions. We met up with Tanya and Litza, the managers of Growbaby, and after a quick chat we got to work.
We were tasked with building a new shelving unit but to do that we had to move baby and toddler equipment upstairs, where Tanya sorted it into piles to keep or throw as unfortunately some of the donated items were missing vitals parts. After a space had been made and the floor vacuumed, Catherine and Dave got the mallets and set to work building the shelving unit. Claire and Jade sorted the shoes into pairs and sizes as some of them had walked off by themselves.
Rachel and Litza organised the boxes and measured areas to try and work out where the rest of the stuff should be stored. Thanks to GoodGym one of the downstairs areas is almost completely organised - but there is one room left to go! More missions for another month.
What a lovely evening. We tidied up and left GrowBaby in a slightly more organised state. Then we hit the streets and went off to The Albion for a GoodGym date night.

For our final January Challenge, GoodGym Kingston went to the Hawker Centre to help clean up the pod. It's a soft play for children, or tonight for children at heart, and it has slides, obstacles courses and a sensory area. We were tasked tonight with cleaning up. Catherine, Claire, Rachel and Dave all met at the Quaker Centre to run 2.6km through the town centre and along the riverside. It was fresh but not as cold as previous weeks and it felt good to be out enjoying the early evening.
On the run we were papped by the paparazzi! Who tipped them off?! Oh, it was me, and it wasn't the paparazzi but it was Marie-Noelle striding to our destination - love a dynamic shot. We met up with Laurel there and got straight into it. We were tasked with deep cleaning the soft play floor and wiping down the sensory room. So many children come through the doors that it is hard to stay on top of cleaning sticky fingers and all the dust.
Marie-Noelle went straight to mopping and she got so on it that she even used two mops! What a legend. Catherine tackled the sweeping, David and Claire grabbed the anti-bacterial spray and went to clean the sensory room. Laurel and Rachel made it their misison to locate all the balls that had randomly located themselves throughout the soft-play - behind the soft play, on top of it and even under it - they were everywhere.
We worked hard to give it a thorough clean and after 45 minutes we gave ourselves a little reward got into the soft play course. The slides were ours! And then to the ball pit for a chill out.
Great task and lots of fun. Well done, GoodGym Kingston!

Our Tuesday Group Run task was back at Balance Support to help finish off the painting. They had the paint and willing volunteers from their office but there's nothing like a little GoodGym action to speed up the task in hand. We met with Fran and Lila and they showed us where a second coat of paint was needed - we grabbed rollers and brushes and got to work.
In the middle room, Claire, Petra and Jade worked as a team to do the cutting in round the window. Dave hopped on the ladder and did the cutting in at the top of the walls and Rachel rollered in between.
In the furthest room, Catherine and Laurel started the second coat of cutting in and rollering - a dream team! Pierre and Janet helped to build two office chairs and helped with all the other extra little jobs that are necessary in such a big project like this.
It was lovely to meet up again and the hour flew by. The walls looked amazing and a quick glance in the kitchen where the walls were the original mucky magnolia colour showed us how much had been done in a short amount of time. Great task and a brilliant turn out by GoodGym - thank you to everyone who helped out on such a frosty evening.
