Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner
It was a cracking day for the Maidenhead Easter 10 mile run and every bunny was egg-cited to start. The runners were all ears at the start waiting for the gun to go off and thankfully no one got scrambled on the loops around Maidenhead business park before hitting the trails.
Sophie Lack provided egg-stremely good support with banners and posters and chick her out... she even managed to capture a photo with the former PM Theresa May!
Elliot and Juli showed off their eggs-pert running skills with some crackingly good times and Juli managed to beat her former PB by over a minute; that was egg-straspecial!
Joseph Acland from Slough was hopping to do 1 hour 15 minutes but smashed his target achieving an egg-credible 1 hour 6 minutes.
Georgetta had an egg-citing day with her first race of this distance and she should be absolutely egg-static with her performance. Chick her out!
Tara and Paul were feeling clucky as they raced around the course and it's no yolk that Alain, Jeremy and Michelle did egg-mazingly well too.
Everyone was egg-hausted by the end and shell never forget the experience. Here's hopping there will be even more GoodGymers at the next one.
That's all yolks....

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Amy L (she/her)
What a great evening! We met on Stafferton Way and did a few intervals along York Stream on our way to Maidenhead High Street, using speedy walk-leader Sheila as a moving target for stopping and starting our efforts. Thanks Sheila!
At the High Street we met injured GoodGymer Ankur and Tricia, Ruth and Dawn from The Autism Group, who needed help with moving to their new premises. We donned face masks and spread out over three flights of stairs, forming a human chain for bringing down flat-packed furniture, TVs, a microwave, rolls of flooring and lots of boxes of toys and craft supplies. We played a bit of Chinese whispers up the stairs, quickly filled up three cars and emptied the charity out of their old top floor home.
Then we were off to the other end of the High Street to do it all again in reverse. The cars would have the one way system to negotiate, so the runners had the challenge of taking a diversion to the Boy with the Boat statue and getting to the new location before the cars. We made it with time to spare for a quick fitness session - go team! Kudos also to Ankur, Georgeta and Sheila, who walked carrying the items that we couldn't squeeze into the cars.
When the cars arrived we emptied them into the hall of the new premises, and then made a human chain to whisk everything up the one flight of stairs. A passer-by kindly joined in and with 14 of us on the job we were finished in a flash, with 15 minutes to spare. Just as I was contemplating a second fitness session to fill the time, the group were saved by Tricia appearing with delicious cookies - such a treat!
Well done everyone who came along and helped us really blitz our task. Hope to see you all again soon!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Jess Smith
11 excitable foresters met at Ockwells Park for the first tree-mendous task of 2022.
Jess had collected spades and shelters from the Braywick Nature Centre and with Sheila's pre-scout of the location the gang were good to go, so they shove-l-ed off for the 1km walk to the planting site.
Although it was not raining it was muddy and squelchy underfoot, however, this did not deter the intrepid explorers for the first task of the year.
The first task was to locate the 'straggly lonely' willow where the whips to be planted had been healed into the ground to keep their roots moist. The stakes were then found just inside the forest edge.
Once all the tools had been located the team collected whips, shelters, stakes, spades and mallets and set about 'whipping' the area into shape!
A hole was made by pushing the spade into the ground and wiggling it a bit to make a slot. The whip was then placed into the hole and then the soil pushed back into place to seal it in the ground. A shelter was then carefully placed over the top to protect the young tree from predators such as deer and rabbits. Finally a stake was inserted into the ground next to the shelter and secured to it with cable ties, this was to help the shelter stay in place and also help the tree grow straight.
With all the shelters and stakes used, indicating 200 trees planted, the team collected the tools and made their way back to the car park.
More sessions are available to be part of this great opportunity and build a wood for generations to come, check the GoodGym listings to sign up!
