Land of Soaps and Dreams

Thursday 9th May

Written by Caprice McWilliams

What a beautiful evening to help Kelly from 'We Do Ethical' at this week's Hope For Food's outreach project. Caprice collected Kelly and her four legged partner in crime, Frankie and they hit the shops. They needed to stock up on supplies as they were running low and stock up they did! They almost didn't have a enough room in the toiletry tubs with all the stock that Kelly purchased. Kelly and Caprice then headed to the Outreach Project where Hope For Food kindly had a table waiting for them. This table was in a perfect sunny spot and it wasn't long before the toiletries started to get snapped up. This week's favourite items were wet wipes, body spray and deodorant. The outreach project is held every Thursday at St Stephen's Way and every Sunday at St Andrew's Church. It is a safe place where those in need can get a hot meal, clothes, toiletries and support from dedicated volunteers such as 'Hope For Food' 'We Do Ethical' and 'The Samaritans.' Frankie worked hard overseeing the mission, they couldn't have done it without him! After a successful session they packed up the van with much lighter tubs and said their goodbyes. Razor hands up in the air!

Thursday 18th April

Written by Caprice McWilliams

This Thursday Caprice helped our good friend Kelly at 'We Do Ethical' at this weeks Outreach in Bournemouth. Kelly for the past four years has been providing the homeless with a constant supply of toiletries, from shampoo to Bamboo Toothbrushes. Caprice and Kelly firstly did a shop to stock up on supplies. They then made their way to The Bournemouth Outreach Project and joined Hope For Food in supporting Bournemouth's homeless. This week 'We Do Ethical' had some very special helpers to hand, Frankie and Boris, Kelly's little fur-family. They really loved saying hi to everyone. It was busy at the Outreach, they were cleared out of wet wipes, body spray and shaving foam and everyone was loving the razors. Some of the boxes were almost empty at the end of the session. I'm sure it was Frankie and Boris who did all the hard work!!

Reaching out under the arches

Thursday 28th March

Written by Bournemouth runner

Going on a shopping spree as a Goodgym mission?!?! “Hey, we are up for that” was the response of two Goodgymmers, Caprice and Lea. Filling a trolley with deodorants, shampoos, shower gels, moisturisers, wet wipes… all ready to go to the We Do Ethical and Hope for Food at the weekly Outreach meeting. Members of the community that are in need of help can come there and get things to cover their basic needs. It was cold under the arches of the flyover by St Stephen’s church but it was heartwarming to see everyone working together. This mission will happen again on a number of other dates. Make sure to check it out!!
