That’s a wrap(per)!

Last night we ran, walked and jogged to Victoria Park where we met Sarah from the friends of group.

We were joined for the first time by Brendanwho not only got stuck in on the task and running but who also managed to get some film footage for his final project for his masters! Great to have you with us and all the best for your submission. Look out for the final film that will be shared on socials!

Armed with the rolls royce of litter pickers we tidied up the area near the community centre and the kids playground which has been really busy due to the summer hols.

After we'd made it all nice and tidy again we jogged back to base and debriefed on tasks that are coming up....check out our listings page here for more details:

Well done to our fab Gleam Team who cleaned and tidied up a storm at Victoria Park Community Centre!

> Great job everyone!

We welcomed newbies Nikki and Helen to the crew. Nikki was vaxing to the max and Helen was never puzzled as she sorted out the games library. Thanks to our regulars Althea and Fiona who were in charge of the book shelves.

Fab to have you along and see you next time!

Elfing out: curtains for a another tricky Vicky Park task!

Wednesday 30th November 2022

Written by Kate Frain

Last night Fi and I went to Victoria Park to help them prepare for their Festive event this Saturday. It was super chilly last night so we made our way to their lovely facility and met Sarah there.

Never ones to shy away from hard work we quickly got down to scrubbing some tables and then the fiddly job of hanging screening curtains for Santa's not so grotty grotto. In the meantime, Fi was was the fairy light fairy (untangling duties). We got their prep off to a great start ready for other team members to carry on with.

We ran back to base and went via the spectacular fairy light house in Stretford (if you know, you know!)

All in all, even Mrs Bah Humbug here is starting to feel festive!

Thanks and well done  xx

Fi and I ran/walked to the lovely Victoria Park in Stretford to help fill raised kitchen beds with topsoil ready for a planting session this Saturday.

Loaded with heavy barrows we trundled through the park, chatting all the way

Another job well done in the lovely outdoors!

Well done and see you next time!

When is a spoon not a spoon? When it's a trowel!

Wednesday 29th September 2021

Written by Kate Frain

Last night five trusty GoodGym-ers jogged, walked and ran to Victoria Park to tidy up and weed one of the lovely ornamental flower beds as (yet again) it was too wet to do the railings. Such is life in Manchester!

Before we set off we paid a visit to the flower bed from last week's task and were chuffed to see our efforts had paid off! No more pesky tree stumps in evidence - just a lovely planted up flower bed (photo attached).

We were careful not to dig up the existing flowers, concentrating on the small grasses and other weeds. We had a great chat including explaining the difference between a garden fork and a trowel to one of our newer members,Read who is visiting us from Saudi Arabia to improve his English as well as volunteering with us, of course ;-)

Thanks very much, you are brilliant!

See you next week for some work at Chassen Park in Urmston while the evening light is still with us.

Thanks, well done and see you soon, Kate x
