Nominations are now open for this year's Sean Coxhead Inspiring Individual Award. Nominate your chosen GoodGymer today and recognise the huge contribution they have made this past year.
Dedicated to Sean Coxhead, the annual Sean Coxhead Inspiring Individual Award recognises GoodGymers who go the extra mile when it comes to doing good for their local and GoodGym community.
Sean Coxhead was GoodGymer in York and a big part of the GoodGym community. He sadly passed away in September 2019, 15 months after being diagnosed with bladder cancer.
Sean completed the Yorkshire Marathon supported by members of GoodGym York who helped him to the finish line in a wheelchair. He raised more than £21,000 for charity.
In recognition of how Sean continues to inspire us, we award the Inspiring Individual Award to a different GoodGymer every year. The Sean Coxhead Inspiring Individual Award recognises individuals in the GoodGym community who have demonstrated remarkable dedication, kindness or effort.
Anyone is able to make a nomination and the final award is judged on the following criteria:
- Impact: how great was the impact of this person’s actions?
- Dedication: to what extent did they show dedication and go above and beyond expectations as a GoodGym community member?
- Overcoming adversity: to what extent did they overcome adversity to achieve this?
- Kindness: to what extent did they show extraordinary kindness or effort?

Nominations will be reviewed by the GoodGym central team and a shortlist judged by a panel comprised of three special guests.
Some guidance for your nomination:
- Please use as specific examples as possible throughout your answers and give as much detail as possible.
- Each person can only make one nomination.
- This award is about activity during 2023 so please only include information about your nominees activity during this year.
- Please try to give as detailed answers as possible. The word count for each entry is 250 words.
- Nominations close on Monday 4th December.
- The winner will be announced before Christmas
