Twice as Nice

Fri 24 Sep
Report written by Rachael (GoodGym Barnsley)

This week, 3.5 GoodGymmers set out for a double task in Barnsley. We combined dropping charity bags for the RSPCA with delivering leaflets for Barnsley Youth Choir.

We were joined by one of the RSPCA trustees and his little boy, who provided great morale for the evening. We also enjoyed some lovely views in Wilthorpe Park.

A good two in one tonight - twice as nice!

Encouraging donations in Barnsley

This week’s task is another local bag drop on behalf of RSPCA Barnsley. You know those charity bags that you get through the letterbox sometimes? Yes, it’s those 😊 donations can be lacking sometimes so it’s our mission to help encourage donations!

We will meet at Wilthorpe Park then run to the neighbouring streets to do our bag drop.

GoodGym x I am Team GB: Distributing leaflets for SPSAS

Sat 14 Aug 11:15 am

Please note that this group run has been cancelled.

Informing local communities about SPSAS

SPSAS help, advise and support single / lone parents in Barnsley by giving them access to support and services they normally wouldn't have access to for various reasons.

We've been out distributing leaflets before and we're back again in Kendray this week to keep up the distribution. Meet on the roundabout at Birk Avenue Park (S70 3AR) at 11.15 for a run together, then onto the leafletting!

Brushing up well

Wed 12 Aug
Report written by Rachael (GoodGym Barnsley)

7 Barnsley GoodGymmers met up on this splendid evening to help the Friends of Locke Park with some maintenance.

A few of us met early for a socially-distanced walk around the park (too hot to run this evening!), then we all met up together with the Friends of Locke Park for some maintenance of the sand pit. After a good day's play by the local children, the sand often needs sweeping back into the pit ready to be enjoyed the next day. Using the big brushes counted as our arm workout for the evening. There were a few spots of litter around so a good spot of litter-picking was done too.

It was one of our biggest get-togethers since lockdown and it was lovely to start catching up in person.
