Pat completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Pat was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Every little helps!

Chelmsford Report written by Chelmsford runner

Five GoodGym members met up outside Tescos on a dark cold Sunday evening to continue our ongoing work with the Little Edi Foundation. The Little Edi Foundation is a small local charity that enables disadvantaged children to fulfil their potential, giving them equal access to food, education and learning development. We were helping out with food side of things today.

A big warm welcome back to Caroline who we haven’t seen for a couple of years and Pat who was back for her second task. Great to have you both on board!

We waited for outside the back of Tescos with Josh, from the Little Edi Foundation for the Fareshare food donations and once received split up the bread, fruit and fresh fish into bags, which we also delivered ourselves to families around the city. We were also given advent calenders by the Little Edi Foundation to drop off as well.

Josh gave us our drop off destinations. Rich and Pat went off on their bikes together. A wonderful mode of transport that is GoodGym endorsed. Myself, David and Caroline got in our cars…. Not quite getting the Gym in the GoodGym session but let’s face it, this task isn’t really suited to running so whatever you can do to help is fine by me. Caroline insisted she would be going out for a post-task run. I made no such promises myself.

Well done for giving up your Sunday afternoons to help families in need, especially David who even missed the first half of the Chelsea game, pure dedication to the cause!

This will be a repeating task every Sunday evening and Wednesday morning so sign up for future deliveries if you can help out.

A Jogging Plogging record

Chelmsford Report written by Chelmsford runner

A record attendance of 24 runners at Chelmsford tonight!

Welcome to Sallyann and Pat to their first Goodgym group run, we hope to see you again in future weeks.

This weeks news was about 10km races with Chelmsford forthcoming on the 17th November, looks like at least six runners are signed, unfortunately it is now sold out so if you fancied doing it, too late! The other was Billericay 10km ;last Sunday, well done to Joel, Rachel, James G and myself who all ran at the event.

Catherine also gave a reminder that tonight was last orders for the Xmas social as final numbers were required, it looks like 16 of us will be going to Zorba's!

Tonights task was to litter pick (Plogging: a recreational activity, originating in Sweden, that combines jogging with picking up litter) in a section of the park set away from the main routes. It was a 2k run to the park led by Rich with Russell and Catherine tail running. We collected the pickers and bin bags and set to picking up the litter along Meteor Way (did you know there is a minature railway there?) with 24 people it didn't take long so we headed back to Central Park to do an efforts session.

Tonights efforts was a 500m loop at a 10k pace and then a 300m loop at a 5k pace, this was repeated twice, a third one was planned but time ran out. Hopefully it will help the Chelmsford 10k runners, but will help anyone with the parkrun times.

Time to head back to Anglia Uni with a 2km jog back led by Joel, a good stretch down and then everyone headed off home. Thanks for coming along everyone and making it a record turnout.

Laurie will look forward to seeing you all next week for our trip to Interact.

Happy running
