Who โ€œCanoeโ€ It Would Be So Tough Tonight ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

Bexley Report written by Tim Dickson

Wow. What can i say. Goodgymers just kept turning up this evening. I believe it was a Bexley Goodgym attendance record, not including opening / launch night. With 22 Goodgymers all ready to head over to the Danson Water Sports Centre to do some good i had to pull in the reins and hold them all back for our warm up. The warm up this week included a fun fitness session so everyone could get to know each other in a fun but very hot and sweaty environment. Put it this way, no one was hugging each other after it.

It was know time to head down to Danson. We split into two teams. Those wanting to do the longer quicker run, and those in training for a slower lesser distance run. Thanks Susan as always for looking after the front runners.

PUT IT THIS WAY, NO ONE WAS HUGGING EACH OTHER AFTERWARDS

On arrival at the water centre it was all hands on deck. We had several tasks to complete. We had a team litter picking and cleaning the jetty. A team sorting out all the float jackets and sorting the canoe oars into there proper places. It was then all hands on deck to lift the canoes up onto the trailers, carry some bigger canoes back up to the centre storage units, then all finishing with pulling some sailing boats and windsurfers to the units. Believe me, there was no need for any further fitness sessions after that lot.

It was just brilliant to see so many new and old faces last night. Big hi 5 to Tanya, thanks for staying up and making it. A big shout also the Emily who is going to be the brand new Hammersmith and Fulham Goodgym trainer. Hope you enjoyed the evening, and no stealing my bad habits, they took me over a year to perfect ;-) Thanks to Sarah who puts the boom in our weekly boomerang videos and photos. We love them. And not to miss out all my crew that join me every single week, no matter what the task or weather is going to be. You are all awesome.

Until next week Bexley Goodgymers...............

ALL โ€œHEAT AND TIDYโ€ at the Community Hospice Shop..........

Bexley Report written by Tim Dickson

OMG! it was a little warm last night wasn't...... i was literally sweating doing my safety briefing. Infact everyone looked at me a little strange when i said it was time for our warm up.

This evening we headed out to the Community Hospice Shop on Welling Hight Street. On arrival we were greeted with smiling faces and a lovely cup of cool water. Boy, it was appreciated and much needed, thanks ladies. Hot or not, it was now time to get on with business. Tonights task was cleaning shelves, and help sort and clean out one of the stock cupboards. Everyone was allocated an area within the shop and cracked on. Being in the children's section we had to keep a eye on Neil as he is soon to be a father and was having an evening of checking out all the baby goods and prams. Congrats Neil we're so chuffed for you.

Here at team Bexley we don't mess about, so it wasn't long till we had sorted all the shelving and displays and moved on to the floor sweeping and hoovering. We really love these tasks as it shows just how much we can get done in such a short space of time.

WE REALLY LOVE THESE TASKS AS ITS SHOWS JUST HOW MUCH WE CAN GET DONE IN SUCH A SHORT SPACE OF TIME

After 45 minutes of grafting it was time for our compulsory photos to show off all our hard work. We then split into two groups and headed back to Crooklog to round up the evening. Big thanks to Susan for looking after the front runners, and Sarah for pushing Matt through his paces. I also want to give a shout out to Chris who pushed out a great run and walk training run with me at the back. Chris you're getting stronger every week.

It wasn't long before we were all safely back at Crooklog for our cool down and chat. I'm definitely looking forward to our social gathering at the Pizza Pad in Welling this Thursday. Well it would be rude not to look forward to it. All Bexley Goodgymers are welcome, but let us know in advance if you intend to come along.

Well thats it for this week. Next week are heading over to Welling library to tidy up and weed the front and back gardens. Its always a fun run and task. So why not sign up and join us. We'd love to have you join us.

Have a fab week everyone............

A โ€˜Lakeโ€™ Kickoff โšฝ๏ธ

Bexley Report written by Tim Dickson

With the first football match for England in the Word Cup i wasn't sure what to expect number wise at Goodgym last night. I needn't have worried because we have an awesome team here in Bexley. We had two tasks to get sorted tonight. One, to finish delivering the Community Hospice colour run leaflets, and our main task to help out at the Danson Water Sports Centre. I have to give a big shout out to Susan this evening for helping with the warm up and leading the run. I'm not going to lie, i was a little broken having completed the London to Brighton bike ride the previous day. On finishing our warm up we headed out onto Danson Road delivering the leaflets. I don't like to brag but we've got this leaflet dropping off to a T. Its great fun to watch as we weave in and out of the drive ways...........With the last leaflet posted, it was off to the Water Sports centre.

WITH THE LAST LEAFLET POSTED, IT WAS OFF TO THE WATER SPORTS CENTRE...........

On arrival we were greeted by Charlie who gave us a brief on what goes on within the centre and the daily activities they do. After finding out that England were a goal up on Tunisia it was time to get to work. We had a few tasks to get through, and as this was our first visit to the centre we didn't want to let them down. Task one:- Sweep and tidy up changing rooms and stack up the chairs Task two:- We headed down to the lake side to litter pick, sweep the mooring, and tidy up the store rooms. Task three:- Sweep and clear up all the old leaves and tidy up around the bin area. Bosh!!! Job done!! Its so rewarding to stand back and have a look at your completed tasks. It gives you a real sense of satisfaction.

IT'S SO REWARDING TO STAND BACK AND HAVE A LOOK AT YOUR COMPLETED TASKS. IT GIVES YOU A REAL SENSE OF SATISFACTION

Just as it was time to go we were informed the England game score line was now one, one. With our spirits just damped a little we started running back to Base Camp Crooklog. Being the back marker for the evening i arrived a little after everyone else but was greeted with an amazing chorus of Happy Birthday and some amazing cupcakes made by Sarah. mmmmmmm, they were divine :-) Thank you so much everyone. You have made turning 50 a lot easier for me. Well thats it for this weeks run report. I hope you enjoyed reading it along with the photos. See ya next week ๏‘Š๏˜
