ABSolutely laven-der look of those dead heads.

Lambeth Report written by Mark Gilyead (he/him)

Wasn't too sure how to stylize that pun? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

ANYWAY - what a lovely warm evening to be in Kennington Park. The place was buzzing and not just because of the bees.

We arrived in drips and drabs which was actually good in terms of keeping a distance (good thinking everyone). ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ

So even when I arrived people were cracking on with:

๐ŸŽ‹Trimming the lavender (it's going to be made into lavender oil don'tcha know!)

๐ŸŒฑPulling up pesky bindweed

๐Ÿ—‘ Litterpicking!

๐Ÿ’€ Dead-heading roses

And plenty of other bits and bobs.

After an hour or so we called it a day. Though some of us stuck around for a game of squat, squat, goose and an un-named core game. ABSA GOLD, ABS from 5ive or ABSO (Abs Behaviour Social Order?)

NICE ONE GUYS

Especially to those of you who are pretty new to GG Lambeth - so great to have you with us. Here's a link to join our WhatsApp and facebook group โœŒ๏ธ

NEXT TUESDAY we've got a task at the lovely Hillside Gardens Park - sign up here.

Bunch of tools

Lambeth Report written by Mark Gilyead (he/him)

Shout out to this collective of legends who spent a lovely Tuesday evening up to their knees in weeds.

Roughly our 700th visit to Jubilee Primary School in the last few weeks, and we've nearly completed the weed level.

Big weeds, little weeds, watering pots

After hunting down all the children's tools, we got to work. We bagged them up, watered some plants and after a solid hour we called it a day. One more trip and we'll be done I think - and next time, we're going to chisel away at a load of beautiful clay flowers - Sorry kids, it's for your own safety.

Some of us did a quick hills session to finish - BANTA (if you know, you know ๐Ÿ˜‰).

Lovely to see all of you - but especially Lauren who joined us for her first GG session ever. ๐ŸŽ‰ Hope to see you again soon!

Here's a link to Saturday's fake parkrun, next Tuesday's session and also we have a little social in the park on the 24th. The last one was lovely (and wet and windy). Here's the link.

Michael Horner earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.

Michael completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Michael was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Rain't no stopping us

Lambeth Report written by Nicky Woodall (she/her)

After a day of downpours, 13 excellent GoodGymmers braved the outdoors for a gardening session at Myatts. Just as the forecast had predicted, the rain slowed to a drizzle and there were moments when it wasn't raining at all. Win!

We were greeted by Tony and Taye who provided a very thorough health and safety briefing before giving us some equipment and basic instructions about what is and isn't a weed. We got down to work, weeding two areas near the bandstand. There were a few further discussions on distinguishing weeds and non-weeds until someone spotted some bindweed and we could all agree that that's definitely a pesky weed.

An hour flew by and Tony and Taye were thrilled with the progress we'd made. We'll be back for more next week so do sign up and we'll see you there!
