Planting bulbs for spring flowers

Sun 31 Oct 10:15 am
Up In Arms pub, 241 Marston Road, Headington, Oxford , OX3 0EN
community gardening

We’re rushing to beautify the roadsides of Oxford before the bulb-planting window passes for this year!

We've designated this a 'starter session' as it's particularly suitable as a first GoodGym task. Of course, seasoned GoodGymers are really welcome, and we'd love your help explaining about GoodGym to newcomers. We will have refreshments available.

Please bring a trowel/bulb planter if you have one and your own gardening gloves. Other tools will be supplied.

Meeting point: The Up in Arms pub, Marston Rd, OX3 0EN.

If you can’t stay for the whole session that’s no problem, every little helps!

Matilda completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Matilda was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Matilda has done their first good deed with GoodGym. Sat 15 May 2021

Matilda is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

Shelf Life

Sat 15 May
Report written by Anwen Greenaway

Saturday afternoon at Oxford Mutual Aid is usually dedicated to making the hall and kitchen spick and span and restocking the shelves. Today we had a slightly more complicated shift as we were charged with managing the distribution of gifts for Eid too. Cyclists, walkers and drivers popped in through the afternoon to collect bundles of sweet treats and toiletries for distribution to families around Oxford. We also did a good sort-out and tidy of the kitchen, stocked the hall shelves with tins, jars and bread (not quite such an overwhelming amount as some weeks!), emptied the rubbish and swept the floors.

Oxford Mutual Aid is a 7-day-a-week operation, supporting hundreds of households across Oxford who are struggling to put food on the table. OMA are feeling the squeeze on their finances right now but continue to do everything they can to help people in need. We're happy to support them.
