I don’t be-leaflet-it!

Mon 14 Mar
Report written by Liz James

I don't be-leaflet-it! Five fabulous Good Gymers arrived this evening, keen and eager to set to work. The evening began with a short warm-up, followed by a run to Bravington Road.

After the task was explained to us, Tabitha and CJ set off to Portnall Road and quickly delivered all of their leaflets in, I can hardly be-leaflet it, record time!

Meanwhile, Sam and Lee began delivering leaflets on one side of Bravington Road, whilst Liz set to work, delivering leaflets on the other side of the road.

We were soon sadly out of time. CJ and Sam headed home, whilst Lee, Tabitha and Liz ran back to base for I really can't be-leaflet it, a well deserved beverage!

Back to school for Mora painting!

Mon 21 Feb
Report written by Liz James

We met outside Papagayo for a short warm-up. Big news for GG Brent - Helen was successful in the ballot and has won a place in the London Landmarks half-marathon!

After a quick run back to school, everyone was ready to set to work! The first task was to sand-down the Wendy-house. The next task was to open the tin of varnish. This task sadly led to a broken key. However, the team were undefeated and eventually used a small shovel to open the tin! The final task was to varnish the house.

The team were hard workers and the task was quickly completed. Just in time, to run back to Papagayo. The reward for the star students was a drink and chips after the run.

Well done team!

Sand and deliver!

Mon 7 Feb
Report written by Liz James

We met outside of Papagayo cafe for a short intro and warm-up. A big welcome to Tom, who joined for his first GG run and to Khush who joined the Brent group for the first time.

We set off in two groups for the run to the task. Upon arrival at the task, we split into two teams. Team A set to work first, sanding down the Wendy house. Meanwhile, Team B participated in a HITT session, including knee to elbow skips, sumo squats, ice skatters, star jumps and superman stretches.

After 15 minutes, we swapped jobs. Team B varnished the Wendy house, while Team A went back to school for a game of 'What's the time Mr Wolf?'

Finally, we ran back to base for drinks and chips!

We will be heading back to Mora Primary for more 'work' in the playground! This time we're getting our brush strokes perfect to help sand and varnish a play hut for the kids. It's a shortish (2km) run each way from Papagayo so get involved

We're at Papagayo whilst the Queensbury continues to run a limited opening - we can leave bags but the run leaders or Taskforce will help with this to prevent any unnecessary congregation inside - if possible please try to limit what you need to leave behind!

On a flyer

Mon 31 Jan
Report written by Pete

Liz Lee Helen Pete CJ and Tabitha met at Papagayo and did some warm-ups, a few setting their Stravas. They then set off following Liz on a great jogging route round the backstreets of Willesden and Queens Park finishing at the Abbey Community Centre in Kilburn where we met up with Becka and Emily. We collected fliers from Jason, then all jogged to the local interestingly-designed council estate where we split into 2 teams of 4, one group jogging to the end of the estate. We all proceeded to scale steps and put flyers in people's letterboxes informing them of great events happening at their local community centre. Task completed we jogged back to Papagayo for chat, drinks and chips, having completed a jolly good run of approximately 9.5 k!

It's been a long time but we are back helping the wonderful folk at Abbey Community Centre and this will be a workout as we take in the 3km run to the centre and then take on the steps of Alexandra Road estate (aka Rowley Way) to deliver leaflets for the children's services the centre provides

We will continue to be meeting at Papagayo Cafe while work to establish a relationship with new staff at the Queensbury - we are still able to leave bags but the run leaders or Taskforce will help with this to prevent any unnecessary congregation inside!
