Gaining on the Guides

Chelmsford Report written by David Chatterjee

Despite the much improved lighting situation, we still met just inside the door, with Bianca wearing three layers and two pairs of socks!

We set off after a hyped up run briefing from leading light Laurie where no one seemed to have any energy. Beatboxing on the way we met leading light leaflet legend Fay who had prepared a great haul including a youth disco which got Joe reminiscing. We split off into two groups and got to work. Doug raised the union flag with Brexit pride and Sallyann even managed to find a brand new beatbox!

We delivered all the leaflets, and even the extra ones that Chris seemed to find, and headed back to base. Angela swung off early to prepare for bicycle shopping and Andy couldn't be bothered to do the last beatbox. For shame! If we miss out by 20 points we know who to blame.

It is also the quiz this weekend on Sunday, and if anyone wants a lift to Barrow farm on Sunday morning for the task there do let me know.

Make sure you read the email from Laurie (cough Martin cough) about the run next week. We will be setting off from Lidl to the foodbank. It is a longer run and there is a list of stuff they need to bring. We may also head to the pub after. Beat the street ends next week during the run so we can all celebrate! Especially if we can catch the girl guides!

GoodSwim!

Chelmsford Report written by David Chatterjee

The rain wasn't present so we thought we had got away with it. We were all excited to go up Aaron, with Joe expressing concern if Aaron knew our plans, but then alas! Floods to the left of us, floods to the right of us, here we were stuck in the middle. We even sent our guinea pig Rich to test the depth but he declared it too moist.

We set off a different route to meet Fay, who had done some extra runninng, and beat the street phenomenon, Sallyann. Delivering leaflets for Helen Rollason and Headway we nipped down copious roads which all seemed to loop round. Joel declared his dream is to visit the two saxons pub, unsure if he would live to tell the tale. I overheard Angela and Laurie admiring a hairy bush (I didn't want to ask) but I certainly will be asking Chris this weekend for the story behind his Dj name - DJ Wolfleg. Very intrigued. We managed to deliver all the leaflets and even managed to stop by Richard's own hill he owns, very humble he hadn't mentioned it before.

Most impressive of all, Erin even managed to keep her eyes open for the group photo!!

If you're coming to Parkrun this weekend a few of us are going to Spoons for breakfast after and all welcome. If not, there is always the beer festival!

GEM M'appelle Team GoodGym

Chelmsford Report written by Laurie Glendinning

11 GoodGymers ran and walked to litter pick and Beat the Street

We were happy to see Chris back for his second GoodGym and although Joe hadn't signed up, we were pleasantly surprised to see him too (and his photo taking!).

Joel led us out on his expertly planned route to capture as many Beat Boxes as was reasonable on our run, whilst also fitting in some litter picking. We met Fay and street beating bandit Sallyann with the litter pickers on North Avenue, and started to pick many cigarette butts. We missed Ben and Bianca, but David eventually caught us up and fit straight in with the box collecting and litter picking.

Everything went a bit foggy after we turned off North Avenue, so that felt like an appropriate point to stop picking and head back, until Andy spotted a photo op with a Beat the Street sign. Rich couldn't let the evening go by without some sort of daft pose, and Erin hadn't had an opportunity for her usual eyes shut photo, so we got into position for a group photo!

So much Beat the Street chat, I apologise. But, we are currently fourth on both average and total in our category, so if we can push ourselves up at least one more place in either or both, we'll be in line to win a prize!

On a final note, I can't believe I just heard that Leanne doesn't like easter eggs?!

See you all soon,

Laurie
