Crewe

I’ve lived in this area for about 15 years now and love the community spirit that exists here. I am fairly new to running and started out with Parkrun and have subsequently joined the Harriers. I have had some fantastic support and made some lovely new friends and would in turn like to give something back.

‘Lettuce’ Get Digging

Crewe Report written by Nicola Marshall

Tonight, 10 members broke the ground on the beds for the allotments at The Wishing Well Project. After measuring and pegging, we were ready to get digging!

The ground was extremely hard, (so hard in fact that we broke a fork trying to to lift the turf - oops!) so it was no easy task but we all got stuck in and made good progress.

A few members undertook other tasks such as trimming branches from the tree to allow more light onto the beds and clearing some overgrown areas surrounding the tree.

The highlight of the night was welcoming Val, a local resident who noticed what we were doing and came and joined us and got stuck in - evening going back to her home to bring some extra tools for us to use! She also spent some time showing Lauren & Sophie some herbs and other plants (including some edible flowers) that were growing in some of the beds in a communal area outside The Wishing Well. It’s great to see the allotment already bringing the community together.

A really productive night spent in the company of lovely people as always. ❤️

Looking forward to next week!!

A Busy ‘Sort’ of Morning

Crewe Report written by Nicola Marshall

On Thursday, 4 members made their way down to Motherwell to help complete the task of sorting school uniform for the uniform exchange.

Motherwell has collected huge amounts of uniform for schools across the area and they needed sorting into the appropriate pile for each separate school

It was a fun and productive morning spent in great company. Motherwell are all set to start distributing to families now that the sorting is complete!

Great work guys. What a team! ❤️

Working “flat” out.

Crewe Report written by Jasmine Jones

Karen and Jazz visited a lady to assemble a flat packed wardrobe for her daughter. The pieces had already been unpacked and assembly attempted so there was a bit of head scratching as we tried to make sense of the jigsaw! We weren’t able to complete the task in the time so another visit will be required. The client was happy with the progress and pleased that her young daughter would have somewhere to hang her clothes.

Great mission both! It sounds like Ms T was very grateful for the support.
