Organisations Isabelle Olson has pledged to support
We gathered with a small group just outside of the DLR station in Shadwell. Everyone came from slightly different directions to help Bablu distribute 600 flyers about some exciting youth sports events. Mi even cycled all the way from Bethnal Green!
After Bablu explained a little bit more about the different projects it was time to decide on the direction of our walking. Luckily Isabelle came to rescue as she knows the area really well and in no time we distributes almost all 600 flyers across the borough.
After heavy rain forecasts initially, we were even welcomed by a great sunset! Win win!
Come and stroll the Tower Hamlets streets with Task Force pro Lieke, and Bablu from Trapped in Zone One as he guides you 'round the Shadwell area, helping spread the word about the new youth projects.
What you will be doing
Meeting Bablu and Lieke at 6.15pm outside the Shadwell DLR station
Putting GoodGym fitness to good use as you help distribute a hefty 500 flyers in the area, for these new youth sports projects. Bablu can answer your questions about the project; the area you're covering...Anything at all.
This task usually takes around an hour, often less, if previous GoodGym leafleting speed is anything to go by.
On a bright an but cold Saturday afternoon, runners Isabelle, Aidan, Ceiling, Simon, John and myself gathered at Stepney City Farm for session 8 of our Aquatic pond building community mission. This was my first Taskforce as lead – so it was wonderful to be at one of my favourite GG venues with such a pleasant and enthusiastic group – a mixture of familiar and new faces (special shout out to Simon who attended his first GG mission - hope you enjoyed it and will be back for many more.) Advised by our friendly Taskforce owner Alex, our tasks today included spreading aquatic and non-aquatic soil and levelling the area around the pond which we set about with gusto - Alex is impressed by our hard work and what we have achieved so far!
Come and join this small, outdoor group activity!
What you will be doing
- You will be led this afternoon by Task Force regular Sree as you shift aquatic soil in wheelbarrows, rake and move stones.
Why have GoodGym TH classed this activity as essential?
- Stepney City Farm are looking for a very small number of volunteers for this time-sensitive task: helping to build a space "that benefits the mental health and wellbeing of our local community, in line with the farm's charitable objectives."
- The farm need 6 GoodGymers for this activity, so if anything changes after signing-up for this activity, please un-sign with as much notice as possible, to free up your place for someone else.
Isabelle has helped keep other people motivated, Isabelle has noticed what others have done and cheered 10 people. We doff our caps to you Isabelle.
