Session 2: Planting the trees!
Marston Forest Garden is part of the Marston Community Garden cooperative, which comprises a community allotment, the Forest Garden, a chicken coup, an orchard and a new Community Wood on New Marston Recreation Ground plus much more.
This time we’ll be planting the trees in the areas we prepared last month. Wellies are advised as the ground can get quite muddy at the Forest Garden through the winter, and please bring your gardening gloves. Tools will be provided.
Meeting point: Outside of the main allotment site on Boults Lane near Marston Saints FC.
The Oxford City and County Council Christmas Fun Run is back!
The race is 2 laps around Christchurch Meadows (approximately 2.28 miles) - perfect for a lunchtime blast! Entry is free but you need to register in advance. Fancy dress is positively encouraged.
To register your entry please send your name, gender, age and address to post your race number to email@example.com by the end of the day on 1st December. We will collate and send the entries in.
All GoodGym race numbers will be given to me (Anwen), so please be at the start by 12:30 to collect yours from me.
Outside the visitor centre buildings to the right as you walk in to the Meadows from the main St Aldate’s entrance.
There are always lots of newcomers to the city at this time of year, and it can be difficult to find a social circle during a pandemic. We like to think GoodGym can help with that, so tonight we'll be dividing into groups to distribute posters around Oxford to help promote GoodGym and spread the word about all the opportunities we offer to do good and get fit.
There will be at least one walking group and a handful of running routes. Exact routes tbc but are likely to be between 3km-5km and include Central and East Oxford.
As we'll be approaching autumn by then, please be sure to bring headtorches and high vis gear if you have them.
The run will be followed by drinks in the James Street Tavern.
