Raindrops on Noses and Litter in Bushes

Oxford Report written by Anwen Greenaway

Great work by the team of 13 GoodGymers clearing the tape from a newly-established footpath at Aston's Eyot, clearing litter, and lopping back overhanging branches along the main path. Wonderful to see everyone work so enthusiastically despite it being a soggy evening!

To the tune of 'My Favourite Things'

...with apologies to Julie Andrews.

Raindrops on noses and litter in bushes
Bright handled loppers for cutting down branches
Large bags of camping kit tied up with string
These are a few of our Wednesday night things

Red and white hazard tape moved from the woodland
Bottles and plastic and cans by the dozen
Lopping team working to open the path
These are a few of our Wednesday night Tasks

Team in red T shirts and waterproof jackets
Drizzle that stays on the nose and eyelashes
Silvery ashes from fires by the stream
These will be haunting our Wednesday night dreams

When the tape's gone
When the nettle stings
When we've cleared the path
We gather the litter to leave by the bin
And then we all feel quite proud.

Welcome to Chris who did his first GoodGym Good Deed with us last night!

Dylan Feore earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.

Dylan completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Dylan was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

A Treemendous turnout!

Oxford Report written by Trev

9 Goodgymers joined about 100 people to plant almost 600 Trees, which this week in total for the Oxford projects, will join 2,500 trees planed in various locations in our city! Woop woop and wow! :)

The trees we planted today were Oak, Wayfarer, Birch, Spindle, White beam, Hazel, and Cherry, and form part of the recreation field behind Rose Hill Community Center.

GoodGymers welcomed, dug, planted, moved Mulch.. “Mulch Ado about Nothing”, “It’s All About the Mulch ‘bout the Mulch, no trouble”! We watched the Nepalese Community in Rose Hill describe how to plant trees in their native language to those who didn’t speak English! <3 We also ate biscuits and drank coffee.. Ben joined us for his birthday.. Epic thing to do.. Happy Birthday Ben.. I believe he planted 15 or possible closer to 20 trees in the end!

Welcome to our new GoodGymers! Emily, Dylan and Welcome back to a few familiar faces great to see John with his young family. Sometimes other things get in the way of coming to GoodGym every week!! it was amazing to see you all.

Thanks all for coming, it was a frosty and sunny way to start off our Christmas build up and I hope these trees will be here for a good number of years for people to enjoy!
