Operations support coordinator
Dora is a (wo)man about town, it's clear to see. They've visited 5 different areas and they are loved for it. Keep spreading the goodness.
Dora has done 10 good deeds. They are a trusted GoodGym runner and are now eligible to join their local TaskForce.
We did it - Goodgym’s 50th group is officially launched!
31 runners ran 5km to Newlands Bishop Farm as part of the GoodGym Solihull launch. At the farm we met Dan, who showed us around and gave us an insight into the work they do, providing jobs for adults with learning difficulties and enabling them to gain new skills. We’ll be back in the summer months to help them out with digging, painting, gardening and much more!
Runners also took part in two mini fitness sessions, with high intensity training, reps and group activities. Everyone gave it their all and completed the session still smiling.
We then ran back to our start location, the Royal British Legion Club, where we cooled down with some stretches.
Thank you so much for attending and giving it your all, with the run, the fitness sessions and meeting new people. It was great to chat to lots of you and get the GoodGym ball rolling in Solihull!
It would be great to see you next week in Tudor Grange Park for our litter pick as part of the Great British Spring Clean.

Waheey you've made it to MONTH THREE. Top work running fans.
This week we will be helping out the brilliant Grove Adventure Playground and Loughborough Farm. It's 1km to go straight there and we will also offer a longer run for those who want to stretch their legs.
Both places need some woodchip spreading outside, so please bring gardening gloves and a headtorch to work safely outside. The Grove also needs some cleaning in the hall as well.
See you there!
Come along and spend a bit longer (in daylight!) at Beecroft Garden Primary School. We have done some incredible work in the Sensory Garden and need to keep going to make it happen. This will be a volunteer session where parents from the school are invited along to help, so there should be many hands.
As this is a community mission, you will make your own way to the school, going to the side entrance on Beecroft Road. Please note, you can drop in any time between 10.30 and 2pm, so feel free to pop along and give as much time as you are able.
GoodGym arrives in Solihull
Come and find out how you can do good and get fit in Solihull. Each week we'll be running to support some great charities and community groups throughout the local area. We'll run, complete a task, and run back all within 90 minutes. You'll get fit, help out and meet some great new people. You'll also be able to find out about all the great work we do with older people tackling social isolation and loneliness.
Solihull is GoodGym's 50th launch area, which marks a huge milestone for GoodGym. Come join us for an adventure and to celebrate on the 20th March.
For our first ever Solihull task we'll be heading 2.5km to Newlands Bishop Farm, a charitable organisations which provides activities and work based learning to people with learning disabilities and mental health problems. They'll be lots to do!
GoodGym Solihull meets every Wednesday evening, 6.15pm, at Broomfields Hall on Union Street. There are toilets and a space to store bags while out on the run. We'll aim to leave for our run at 6:30pm and be back by 8.00pm.
GoodGym welcomes runners of all abilities. All our runs are backmarked and we never leave anyone behind. Don't be shy, we're a very friendly bunch.
GoodGym would like to thank Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and the West Midlands Combined Authority for making GoodGym possible in Solihull.
Help isolated older people in Solihull
GoodGym runners will be helping Solihull's most isolated and lonely residents by making social visits and completing household tasks. It's a quick and easy way to make a real difference to someone elses happiness. To get involved in our support for older people click here to become a member and start the process. You'll need to complete a DBS check and so bring some identification documents along to one of our sessions.
Dora became a walk leader. Dora led the way for others to get fit by doing good.
Several months of plotting and planning all came together for the launch of Goodgym Oxford last night. 40 runners gathered at East Oxford Community Centre, and after speeches from Councillor Pat Kennedy and the Sheriff of Oxford Craig Simmons, we divided into 2 groups and headed off into the night to do good deeds.
Team South Park (without a Kenny-esque parka between us) headed straight to Morrell Avenue, and showing grit and determination ran the first half a mile UPHILL:That's dedication for you!
Cutting across South Park we were a little surprised to be passed by a man in a bunny onesie, but Oxford-dwellers know this to be normal Wednesday night attire and didn't even comment.
The railings along South Park on Cheney Lane are choked with ivy, which is blocking the sight-lines into the Park. Donning gardening gloves, we quickly set to work ridding the railings of ivy. Our team of 30 Goodgymers made light work of it, getting stuck in with enthusiasm. Brilliant teamwork meant we filled 40 binbags with ivy in 30 minutes. Thanks to Mark for promising to arrange for the bags to be collected.
After a quick stop for a team photo we headed back down the side of the park (down was definitely more popular than up!), and over to the bottom of South Park. A friendly game of tag with fitness forfeits ensued, with Mike and Mat playing 'It' very tactically. Then everyone had a go along the monkey bars before heading back out onto the street. The run back to base included an encounter with a running group all dressed in bowties - we really must up our fashion game next week.
Meanwhile team Donnington Doorstep assembled for what was billed as the walking group. But did we want to walk?! NO WAY! After a quick game of 'high 5 as many people as you can' we were off into the night and were most definitely running.
Soon we arrived at the Donnington Doorstep Children's Centre and were met by the AMAZING Dilyana who had made us all date and nut treats. Yummy! We'll definitely be back to this task.
The centre provides loads of support and activities for local children and families. Tonight they needed some GoodGym help sorting out the store cupboard. It was stuffed to the brim with activities, games and books for the kids to enjoy but was in a bit of a mess. We got to work emptying shelves, stacking boxes, sorting toys and reminiscing about our favourite kids books. Where's Wally, obviously.
After returning the neatly organised books and boxes to the shelves we hit the road. Heading towards the iconic Iffley Road running track we felt inspired to do a bit of speed training ourselves and sprinted between lampposts.
So much for walking!
Thank you everyone - this was fun and both groups achieved a lot. Next week we will be taking part in OxClean's Spring Clean. Sign up here
