Tuesday evenings are just the best! Fitness is the park, litterpick along the canal paths, lots of fun and laughing!
We could not have wished for a more stunning evening! The sun was beaming and we felt so lucky to have such a beautiful area for our task, litter picking along the Riverside Valley park. We did not find a huge amount of litter, a good thing really! But still managed to collect a fair bit of micro plastics and the usual beer cans.
After the task we smashed some speed drills, some strengthening exercises and of course the usual Sally Squats!
It was great to see you all! Wish you the most beautiful summer ever filled with running, doing good and getting fit!
Lets get together for a litter pick and a little fitness session in Riverside Valley Park. We will meet by Ducks Marshes near Salmon Pool Lane. Don't forget to bring your gloves and some bin bags if you got them!
We setup an impromptu litter pick as a separate task was unfortunately cancelled. We met at the catacombs which were unusually tidy and/or so full of lush grass that we couldn't spot much litter!
So, we headed over the bridge to our favourite litter picking hotspot: Flowerpots and the riverbanks (sound like a band name!?).
After the litter pick we took on some proper 'community fitness' by picking an exercise each for two rounds of circuits in the park. Of course we followed that up with some sally squats!
Thanks to everyone who came and helped!
Please note that this community mission has been cancelled.
Making a raised bed, to allow people to grow vegetables.
There are nettles and ants so best to tuck wear socks that joggers can be tucked into, also please wear gloves.
6 GoodGymers smashed a training session and got lots of extra steps in whilst litter picking in Cowick Barton Playing Fields. What an amazing night of getting fit by doing good!
After thunder storms and torrential rain all afternoon the evening turned out unexpectedly lovely with blue sky and sunshine. It could not be a better night for our team of GoodGymers to get together for some running and a good deed!
We started the night with running some laps in Cowick Barton park, including some speed work, some balancing exercises, core workout and of course some SALLY SQUATS! Thank you Pete for introducing the new jumping version!
All warm and buzzing we collected our litter pickers and set off for our litter pick.
We filled 5 bin liners in 45 minutes. Great work team!
We had some great finds this evening.... As well as the usual plastic wrappers and bottles we found a tooth brush, part of a door mat, and our litter-picking queen, Lucy R, found some coins (she kindly donated these to a charity) and a marble!
So good to see you all, run and do good together! Nothing beats that feeling!
Cowick Barton Playing Fields is a very popular green area in Exeter. Unfortunately there is often a lot of litter around. Lets do our bit to clean some up!
Join us by the main entrance to the park (there is a little car park and public toilets there).
We will start off with a a few running/jogging laps around the park (all abilities welcome) followed by a little core session and then get stuck in with the litter-pick.
We can't wait to see you there, get some extra steps in and get fit whilst doing good!
PS. Don't forget your gloves!
