Jingle bells, jumble sells, GoodGym clears away!

Hackney Report written by Eva Sharpe

Ten GoodGymers spent the afternoon clearing up after the St Joseph's Hospice Christmas Jumble Sale.

Lets start with a couple of shout outs!  On this mission we were welcoming Charlotte for her first ever good deed, and helping David celebrate his 100th! Congrats to both of you.

And of course a shout out to Liz for her amazing pun this month!  I thought we had already used every jumble pun in the book, but she managed to come with this amazing Christmas jumble pun!

All ten GoodGymers met at local charity St Joseph's Hospice, which was holding its Christmas fundraising jumble sale to raise money for its work providing free support for people affected by serious illnesses.

A few of us arrived extra early to have a look round and try and snap up a few bargains in the sale before the task! Then as the jumble closed, GoodGym got to work!  Not everything from the sale sold, and so everything needed packing away to either be shipped elsewhere to be sold in charity shops, or to be stored for the next jumble at the hospice in the container at the back.

We loaded up enormous blue trollies with bags of clothes, bedding, shoes and bags, as well as stacks of books and racks of clothes, all to be sorted and stored in the right place. This involved many trips up and down in the lifts putting our best tetris skills to the test to fit everything in.

After an hour and half, all the jumble had been packed up and we finished with our traditional jumble pic, grabbing assorted bric-a-brac to pose for a group photo.

We'll be returning on 9 February for the next jumble sale.
