This afternoon I visited Ms W, who lives in a care home, mostly alone in her flat. We chatted as per usual, catching up at on what each of us have been up to. Usually, I ask if she wants to find out what has been happening in the world (nb Ms W is blind) and she always says, "only tell me the good news". At which point I struggle a bit as the BBC news are mainly bad news. This time I found an article about an abandoned 6 legged puppy, which was rescued, had surgery to remove the unwanted limbs, and now she's a happy puppy. This story resonated very well with Ms W and then she tells me that she gets visits from Yogi the dog. Yogi is brought over a couple of days per week, to keep her company during the day. That story, in turn, has warmed my heart!
