Last night saw a small but mighty group of heroes head down to Gunnersbury Triangle Nature Reserve on behalf of The London Wildlife Trust to help spread some mulch in this lovely local space!

With thunder and heavy rain threatening all day many may have been put off but 7 hardy souls still turned up for the run which was longer than our usual, we also lucked out with the weather as in the end when it came down to business the storms seemed to have done their worst and we had a rain free adventure (even if it was a little soggy underfoot!)

We had a last minute change of plan to contend with as our original task was to help water the newly planted trees after all the hot weather we’ve been having... well mother nature dealt with that quite well earlier in the day so instead we were tasked with mulching a path in the reserve as an alternative. After a quick health and safety briefing (with warning of potential fungal spores!) we had no time to waste and we’re off.

Upon arrival everyone got stuck straight in and if the 10km run wasn't enough we also got in a good workout on the job this week by working together to shift mulch into barrows and push it over to the area at the other side of the reserve where it was needed. The dusty fungus was immediately apparent so we did our best holding of breath and staying down wind between shovels!

Barrows of fun!

Well done to everyone on the run tonight, it was a biggie but we all made it through even if it did involve a little climbing on the way back...

Special mention this week goes to Lauriane who is so dedicated she came down on her birthday to celebrate with us! An impromptu pub visit with cakes was a great way to end the evening.

Joyeux anniversaire Lauriane!
