It was back to Locke Park tonight to clear more leaves from the paths after Storm Brian had caused carnage!

We met Anne and Keith, part of the Friends of Locke Park group, and picked the best brooms from the cupboard. Josh confirmed that this was indeed a very important task because he'd nearly gone over on wet leaves at parkrun on Saturday.

It hadn't been 5 minutes when Mairead smelt something bad...

I can smell dog poo, where is it?!

We scouted around, shining our headtorch beams all over the place before I realised it was me who'd stepped in it. A lot of it. Every crevice of my running trainer was packed with the light brown, stinking muck!

The remainder of the sweeping task was spent trying to find a good spot to scrape off the poo, whilst providing excellent floodlighting for the team, of course. I finally found an excellent stick to poke it all out with.

In half an hour we'd cleared the path and the steps, scouted a new task for another week and had a chat with the police who were on the lookout for someone.

As we ran back down the hill, we had our eyes peeled for the missing man but it had started to rain and there weren't many people out and about. The rain got heavier just in time for our fitness session.

Threshold sprints!!

We ran loops at threshold pace, with one minute recoveries. Everyone pushed themselves and quite enjoyed the refreshing rain! After the sprints, we had an easy jog back to base to finish with a couple of conditioning exercises and a little chest-press challenge.

Now.. time to clean those shoes..
