After 4 long weeks apart the wait was finally over.....Coach Ellie was back and chomping at the bit to take back the reins of her beloved GG Brent....No more horsing around.

Housekeeping was swift with only one new face to welcomed with glee - Hello to Ross! Another lovely lad for the female strong pack to mother!! yay.

With many of the team jetting off on their holidays this month, the Brent brigade had shrunk a tad, but though they be little they be fierce.... fierce with determination and gusto for the task ahead - Our bi-montly trek out to 3rd Wembley Scout Group...... the other side of the borough.... da da daaaaaaaa.

Despite the distance ahead the team were excited and up for the challenge. Feeling motivated and full of energy we set off into the night.

Claire set the pace and the energy was high. It soon became clear the team wanted to feel it tonight. It was going to be a hard-work session with heads-down and gritted teeth, not the laid back return Ellie was hoping for!!! None the less the chatter was loud and the laughs were plenty as we sweat and paced it in record time, arriving at the Scout hut in under 30mins.

Greeting us at the door were the awesome Andy and Jay who as usual were delighted to see us there to help. After photo-call and Jay's kitchen treats we set to work.

Gathering up the tools, we began the task at hand.....

The total annihilation of the spikiest, most angry looking tangle of weeds we'd ever seen.

Thrashing and scraping, bashing and pulling, whipping those weeds into submission we chopped, raked and pummelled for 30mins of back-breaking efforts. It was worth it when we could finally see soil and earth once more. Looking down at our achievement and shouting "WEEDED IT" .

With Claire and Sadhana stacking logs and Ross sawing down the most stubborn little tree stump that had ever been seen, (that is, since Sadhana's unruly bulb last time we were on site) we had gathered enough stock for the Scouts end of summer bonfire, which we grateful accepted an invite to yay!!!

Before we knew it time was up and we sadly said our farewells, for another month at least.

Pacing was key on the journey home, as we raced against the clock to get back to base camp by session close.

Taking the group through heart rate increases, climbs and percentage tempos, every marker drew one more last ounce of energy from each and everyone. Red faced and sweaty, there was one last challenge to go- Perfect technique drills up the last hill of the day.

  • Driving arms backwards
  • Elbows in tight
  • Hips driving up
  • Head high
  • Chest proud

GO GO GOOOOOOOO

The last big push and they were up the hill. "I've never run that fast up our hill" Claire exclaimed. Massive credit to our girl who has gone from strength to strength in just a few short months!!

Finishing off the session with hand-holding stretches.....awwwwwwwww coz that's how we do it in Brent. Our wee family called it a night.

Fantastic first session back and looking forward to next week already!!

GoodGym Brent done for another week.

DO GOOD. FEEL GOOD. INSPIRE
