Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Three runners braved a 6km round trip soggy Monday evening run to help out Harlesden Community Garden to move earth from a raised bed onto a pile of topsoil.
April showers bring May flowers, so they say - but what to May showers bring...? Claire breathed a sigh of relief when two smiling GoodGym Brent regulars walked through the door of the Queensbury - Clare & Laura, horray! We'd heard somewhere about it raining men but not in Brent this time round, with a three girl do gooding team up for the job.
The pouring rain couldn't dampen our spirits as we ran down Willesden High Street (with a pit-stop in a pub doorway when the rain got ridiculous). We arrived at the task right on time and were greeted by Gabriel, Involvement Projects Coordinator for Crisis. He showed us what was what, and said that we'd have a wheel barrow of laughs with the task for the night - shifting soil from a raised bed across the road from the garden, and onto a big pile of topsoil next to the shed.
We got stuck in, and didn't throw the trowel in until the bed was emptied and the topsoil securely covered to stop foxes and cats using it as a loo...! Blee!
Then we squelched our way back to the Queensbury feeling good about ourselves for not letting a bit of rain stop our fun, but looking forward to getting changed and having a cuppa back home.
Thanks for making Brent better every time!
