Alix and I met Lizzie from the Weir Link Centre who gave us some secateurs, a trowel and a whole lot of garden waste bags. She showed us a particularly prickly flower bed which had clearly not seen any attention for a while...

We got to work straight away. I was recklessly yanking out all the big thistles (OK I left a few because the bees were loving them 🐝) whilst Alix took a more thorough approach by getting rid of all the smaller weeds in between.

Team work makes the dream work.

We did a bit of pruning and deadheading of the roses and in the end had 4 bags ready to be picked up, and the bed looked much better.

Lizzie said they were keen to make the centre look like people were taking care of it, having been out of action for a year, to encourage people in.

Shout-out to Alix for her first GG session 🥳
